Several years ago I began to gain weight. Like most middle-aged women I thought it was my age. At the time I had what I believed was a healthy eating regime. I have always been an active person, going to the gym since I was in my teens. This just was not making sense to me. Doctor after doctor looked at me as if I was lying about my eating habits and activity, as the scale seemed to tell a different story. I cannot tell you how frustrating this was!
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with a thyroid condition. Adding thyroid medication helped and I slowly (over a 10 year period) lost about 25 of the 40 pounds I gained. In 2016 at a routine doctor’s visit I expressed my frustration with my weight. I was told ‘I needed to accept weigh loss might be a thing of the past given my condition’. This was not the answer I was going to accept.
I shared my story with my neighbor, who clearly lost a considerable amount of weight. He gave me Anne’s contact information and assured me she could help. I made the call!
Anne impressed me immediately in our first session. She listened intently and made me feel at ease, explaining what she believed might be my roadblocks. Finally, someone was listening! Her knowledge of the human body and ability to explain it in a way I could understand is her strength. From our conversation she developed a meal plan that met my dietary requirements and was easy to follow. Combined with my exercise routine I left her office that day feeling ’15 pounds, no problem’!
Six months from our first session I achieved my goal. It has been a year and I am below my goal weight. I continue my sessions and continue to learn from her. I could not have done this without her support, encouragement, wisdom and friendship. She challenged me when I needed it but was always very respectful in her approach, something I like. This was an amazingly positive experience.
